Who are we?

The IAM is a national organisation based in London. It was founded in 1956. Its aims are to improve road safety and to raise driving and riding standards. The main way it does this is by running the Advanced Driving Test and Advanced Motorcycle Test. It currently has over 100,000 members, all of whom have passed one of the tests. It has been approved by the Government’s Driving Standards Agency as a provider of advanced tests.

Forth Valley Group
is one of over 200 local Groups affiliated to the IAM. At present we have over 120 members. We exist to further the aims of the IAM in the Forth Valley area. The main way we do this is by offering help to become an advanced rider or driver as a preparation for taking the IAM test. We also produce a Newsletter several times a year. Throughout the autumn, winter and spring, we hold monthly meetings usually on the third Thursday of the month, in Stirling or Falkirk, at a venue announced in the Newsletter. Usually the main item at a meeting is a talk on a motoring-related topic.

We can arrange observed runs from a wide range of locations spread across the Stirling , Falkirk and Clackmannan areas.
